About Us

Pam Hurst, Founder of The Sterling Butterfly, served as a Studio Artist with the Art Sanctuary for several years. As her business flourished and fellow artist friends sought out retail opportunities, she felt compelled to establish her own store. The vision of opening a boutique centered around fine arts and crafts took shape as Pam nurtured her own enterprise and identified a crucial need for local artists to have a dedicated space to exhibit and sell their creations. In 2014, The Sterling Butterfly welcomed its first patrons, offering a curated selection of high-quality, handcrafted art products. Simultaneously, it provided a vital platform for local artists to present their work. Pam relocated her jewelry studio to a dedicated space within the store, transforming it into a versatile hub for both creation and commerce.

The Sterling Butterfly retail store proudly features the work of more than 25 talented artists hailing from the vibrant Martinsville community and its surrounding areas. Our diverse range of offerings includes pottery, fine art, textile arts, glass art, clothing, purses, candles, soaps, metal arts, and exquisitely crafted wood pens. Throughout the year, we offer a variety of enriching classes in disciplines such as metalsmithing, knitting, drawing, and crocheting, providing a platform for individuals to explore and refine their artistic skills.
